A Dometic Cooling Unit can make a huge difference in keeping your rv refrigerator repair or van cool. Whether you are in the trucking industry and need a way to cool your truck cab during overnight stops, or if you are looking for a way to stay cool without using a generator on hot summer days, these units are a great choice.
The RTX2000
We tested the Dometic RTX2000, which is an air conditioner designed specifically for use in commercial truck cabs. It cranks out 2,000 watts of cooling power, and is sized differently than the typical rooftop air conditioning unit found in RVs.
It is a very efficient air conditioner that does not need to run on battery power, which is good for the environment and also for your wallet. It can be used to keep your cab cool when you are parked, or as a small refrigerator when you are on the road.
The RTX2000 is a bit heavy, but it is a good weight for a portable cooler. It has strong handles that are made of aluminum alloy, and retract to the side when not in use. The lid is sturdy and thick, with a hinge that does not flex or collapse easily.
One of the most appealing aspects of this product is its ability to be controlled by a mobile app. It has Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to control it remotely via your smartphone or tablet.
You can even download apps to track temperatures and monitor how much energy your unit is drawing. This is a very useful feature that is often missing from many other coolers.
CFX3
The Dometic CFX3 is another excellent compressor model powered cooler that we’ve tested. It comes with an AC and DC power cord, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and the ability to cool from 50degF down to -7degF.
This model has a capacity of 46L, which is a decent amount of room for an icebox or fridge/freezer. This cooler is also a fairly good value compared to other similar models from other brands.
Weighing in at just over 42 pounds empty, this is a moderately sized portable cooler that is a bit heavier than some other compressor model powered units we’ve tested, but not too heavy for one or two people to carry on their own. The handles are sturdy and the lid is thick, making it a good choice for carrying a small amount of ice or a week’s worth of food and condiments.
It is a relatively new addition to Dometic’s portable fridge/freezer line, and it has improved on some of the pitfalls we noted with the previous version of this cooler. The CFX3 has a longer battery life, runs on a smaller portable battery, and is a bit more lightweight compared to the older version.
